Frankfurt/Riyadh, 26 November 2025 – How can we mobilise capital for the sustainable development of industry in emerging economies? This is one of the questions being discussed by the General Assembly of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) in Riyadh this week. There is less of a shortage of money than of the right vehicles to channel it through effectively. “Only around two per cent of global climate finance is flowing into the decarbonisation of industry – particularly in emerging and developing countries, far too little is reaching its destination,” says Sylvia Wisniwski, co-founder and CEO of Finance in Motion.

Frankfurt, 10 November 2025 – Today marks the start of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil. In addition to setting new climate targets, one of the main topics is how to finance them. Given the tight budgets even in industrialized countries, it is more important than ever to leverage private capital to limit climate damage. Investments in renewable energies, for example, not only ensure a reliable electricity supply and generate local returns, but also help to reduce global warming. Finance in Motion, one of the largest impact investors worldwide, is actively engaged in this discussion at COP30 through Chief Investment Officer, Hector Gomez Ang.

At Finance in Motion, we’ve long believed that emerging markets hold far more promise than the world gives them credit for.

In her latest conversation with Private Equity International’s Impact Investing Annual Report, our CEO Sylvia Wisniwski dives into why it’s time to challenge outdated notions of risk and rediscover the real potential behind these economies. Drawing on years of hands-on experience in impact investing, Sylvia shares how data, local partnerships, and grounded insight can reveal a very different truth, that emerging markets aren’t defined by volatility, but by resilience, innovation, and opportunity.
